Editorial standards.
Last revised Apr 1, 2026
The standards below describe how Revscale Media reports, verifies, and publishes. They are binding on staff and contributors. If you believe we've fallen short of them on a specific story, write to corrections@revscalemedia.com.
Independence
Revscale Media is editorially independent from the commercial operations of Revscale, Inc. Reporters do not take direction from the parent company, its customers, or any advertiser. We do not accept pre-publication review of stories by sources or subjects.
The publication accepts advertising, sponsorship, and events revenue. None of those relationships influence editorial coverage. When a story touches a commercial partner, we disclose the relationship in the piece.
Sourcing
Our default is on-the-record reporting with named sources and primary documents. We use anonymous sources only when the information is material, when we have confirmed it through at least two channels, and when the source would face clear professional or legal retaliation for being identified.
We describe anonymous sources as specifically as we can without identifying them — their role, their proximity to the information, and why they agreed to speak. "Sources familiar with" is not good enough; we aim to do better.
Documents
When we report on an FDD, a private financial document, or leaked material, we review the document ourselves rather than relying on summaries from interested parties. We redact information that would compromise sources. We do not pay for documents.
Interviews
Interviews are on the record unless the subject and reporter agree otherwise before the interview begins. We do not ambush subjects with hostile questions off-the-record and then quote them on-record. We give subjects of critical stories a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication.
Verification
Every claim of fact in a Revscale Media story is verified by the reporting team. Quantitative claims (unit counts, revenue, deal multiples, dates) are verified against at least one primary source. Where the data is estimated, we say so.
We do not publish rumors or speculation as fact. We do not bootstrap other publications' claims without independent verification.
Corrections
We correct every error we become aware of, whether in fact, context, or characterization. Corrections are appended to the story with the original text visible and the correction dated. For substantial errors, we issue a standalone correction on the homepage.
If a reader, source, or subject believes a story contains an error, email corrections@revscalemedia.com. We respond within two business days.
AI disclosure
Reporters at Revscale Media use AI tools to assist with research, transcript cleanup, summarization of public documents, and copy editing. We do not publish AI-generated reporting, AI-generated quotes, or AI-generated primary analysis.
Any story that includes content materially shaped by an AI system — for example, a visualization built from an AI summary of a large dataset — carries an AI-methods note explaining what the tool did and what human verification was performed.
Conflicts of interest
Staff reporters do not own securities in companies they cover. Where an ownership interest is unavoidable (index funds, diversified ETFs, pre-existing personal positions), the reporter discloses it to their editor and recuses from direct coverage of that specific issuer. The same applies to family members inside the reporter's household.
Reporters do not accept gifts, travel, or meals from sources or subjects of coverage beyond routine nominal hospitality at conferences or site visits. Travel that is paid for by a source is disclosed at the bottom of any story reported on that trip.
Photography and visuals
Photographs are captioned with their subject, location, and source. We do not digitally alter photographs except for standard adjustments (cropping, exposure, color balance). Composite images, illustrations, and AI-generated imagery are labeled as such.
Placeholder graphics on our homepage and in article headers are clearly stylized (duotone SVG patterns) and are never intended to be read as photography. When a story's imagery is a stock photo or illustration, we label it.
Use of our reporting
Our stories are copyrighted. You may quote our reporting in your own work with attribution and a link back to the original piece. You may not reproduce whole articles without permission. For licensing, contact press@revscalemedia.com.
These standards are revised periodically. Substantive changes are noted at the top of the page with an updated date.
